"I'm Sick" b/w "Shafto Road" [7" single] (Planet Pimp Records)

By: Gary "Pig" Gold

Despite an impressive array of appearances on a multitude of labels and compilations the world over, these New Jerseyites seem restricted to mere matinee status on their home turf - even at some of NYC's most supposedly a 'happenin' garage-fests. But not for much longer, I hereby declare, shall this dizzy unit be kept cruelly in the shadow of lesser American non-male groups' especially if they continue to deliver crack product like this!

While both these tunes sound characteristically dug up from the bottom of Link Wray's backyard, the twist here's the deceptively sugary vocals, which on the surface may display all the cheer of the (pre-platinum) Go-Go's but in actual fact sing instead of death, debauchery, and good ol' all-round pharmaceutical hanky-panky. Yes, under the ever-watchful ears of studio whizkids The Bicker Brothers (aka half of them Gripweeds), Sit N'Spin have once again produced a record that surely deserves a fate better than your local vinyl specialist's 99-cent bin. You should hear for yourselves.
