The Waxwings
Low to the Ground (Bobsled Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Bright, energetic pop music that travels to Europe in the mid-60's and back to the states, The Waxwings' Low to the Ground is a stellar collection of hook-laden, glorious pop songs that will remind you why pop music is so damn good.

Warm guitars, steady rhythms, and harmonious vocals keep the pop rich in every morsel of music, while the strong songwriting and enjoyable lyrics help flush the songs out and give them the boost they need to be fully captivating.

The Waxwings' Low to the Ground is a stellar collection of eleven pop songs that will, if there is any justice in the world, catapult them to the top of the indie-rock pop-revival list. A bit more modern than a majority of the Beatles-clone bands, The Waxwings take equal parts Beatles, Beach Boys, and life and mix it all up into enjoyable pop songs. I'll give this an A.
