Waxwing
One For The Ride (Second Nature Recordings)

 Pounding, soothing, and oft-emotional, Waxwing deliver true-to-the-book emo album on One For The Ride, an album crying for attention. Though it is the desperation and pain that make this album what it is. Not catchy, the songs don't hook you in. Rather, they're rough and non-accessible, forcing you to find them on your own terms. Which, in turn, makes you really listen and feel the album before you're able to really hear what they're doing. They've got the rock and softness to really impact listeners. I want to hear what they do next time around. This, however, is an impressive start. I'll give it a B-.
