 Country-tingled Americana-folk, Holly Figueroa's How It Is is a slice of American music, an acoustic-centered record that showcases her strong willed voice and ability to write moving songs about what she sees and feels in a universal way. It has its quiet moments and its loud moments, but prefers to live somewhere between the two, the mid-tempo songs sliding by, one to another, as each one begins and ends with an emotion for you to feed into. The most compelling aspect if How It Is is Figueroa's ability to weave many genres together to come up with her brand of folk. I'll give it a B-.
