Sunday Munich
Pneuma (Kyan Records)

By: DJ Dysdynia

This is the debut from a duo in Florida, who go by the name Sunday Munich. Avis and Sarah Hubbard compose this new assembly. Together they have created Pneuma, courtesy of Kyan Records. The CD is a blend of cello, piano, drum loops, and Sarah Hubbard's pristine vocals. A few tracks such as "Pittance" and "Smallest Tragedy" can even be considered danceable. As for the rest of the album it is slow, melodic and enchanting. The most diverging factor about Pneuma is Sarah Hubbard's unequaled voice. She manages to incorporate and mixture of child - likeness, with a women's mind by the fluctuations in her voice and the sincerity of her pitch. Avis adds in the remaining orchestration in such a manner as to make each track disparate from one another adding diversity and demonstrating the limits of creativity. For those of you who enjoy Portishead or Switchblade Symphony's Bread and Jam for Frances will definitely find Sunday Munich's Pneuma an instant favorite.
