AMFM
Getting Into Sinking (Polyvinyl Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Where Audiot and Mutilate Us where both great albums, with the latter showing a lot of progress and growth in AMFM's sound, their latest, Getting Into Sinking, is a pretentious, lo-fi indie album so consumed by the audience's love of lo-fi hip-ness, that it loses the band's drive and goals in the cloudy, dark air.

If this were AMFM's first record, than you would hope the band would come into their own right. But they did that on Mutilate Us, which showcased a band capable of writing powerful, hook-laden, and memorable indie-rock songs.

On Getting Into Sinking, however, the band takes a step back, leaving me to believe they're either in a slump or rushed this record just to get something out. Either way, mediocre would be a kind description for this record. It isn't even a good demo. I'll give it a D.15
