VARIOUS ARTISTS Coming Up!: Independent Artists Pay Tribute To The Music of Paul McCartney (Oglio/Tribute) By: Alex Steininger

A benefit for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Coming Up! features several independent artists paying tribute to Sir McCartney's post-Beatles songs. Very beautifully orchestrated, infectious pop songs showcase McCartney's songwriting brilliance in a new light. Starbelly, Cliff Hillis, The Masticators, Michael Carpenter, and The Shazam all do McCartney justice, re-living pop gems and ensuring that they become timeless classics. However, there is a dud on this album. Ray Paul's rendition of "Oh Woman, Oh Why" is a horribly off-key, bad-bar-rock-trying-to-be-tough number that will surely have McCartney ashamed if he ever hears it. Otherwise, it's a great album. I'll give it a B.
