Lost in Reverie (The End Records)

 Peccatum have coined the perfect title for their latest CD. It's called Lost in Reverie. The title is perfect because, despite some brilliant moments and some razor sharp metal, much of this album gets lost in dreamy melodic wanderlust. In an effort to augment and enrich the metal Peccatum incorporates a dazzling array of pop, electronica, industrial, quasi-psychedelica, and prog rock. The problem is that the mixture fails to thoroughly gel and instead comes across as an aural assortment of mix and match sounds. It's not a completely displeasing final result; in fact there are some stellar tunes on this CD, but overall it just seams "lost".
